The Mount Miguel Matadors hosted the Robert Jenkins Memorial Tournament this past Saturday, finishing third as a team including two champions.
Sophomore Raul Garcia, 109 pounds, and senior Juan Ruiz, 155 pounds, dominated their respective weight classes to earn Most Outstanding Lightweight and Most Outstanding Heavyweight in the 18-team tournament.
It was a total team effort for the Matadors who were missing four weight classes. Mount Miguel finished with six medals.
The Matadors are back on the mat this Thursday at home as they take on Santana. They will be looking to clinch their first wrestling league title in more than two decades.
