Matadors Knock Off #1 Seed to Advance to CIF Semis
The Mount Miguel boys basketball team did not receive the memo. The nine seed is not supposed to knock off the one seed on the road. A team with zero playoff experience is not supposed to make crucial shots down the stretch in the CIF quarterfinals.
 
The Matadors did just that.
 
They are writing their own script. Their latest act was a 55-45 victory against the Islanders of Coronado.

Matadors Earn Playoff Win on the Road
The Mount Miguel Matadors opened the CIF playoffs with a win at University City 49-41.
 
It was not easy for the Matadors, as they trailed at the half 19-24. 
 
"It looked a little shaky but that was our first playoff game for everybody," head coach Jay Rowlett said. "None of that group has been in a playoff game So I'm very proud and we will take the dub!"

Mount Miguel Matadors Dance Club is sending 13 kids to Las Vegas to compete at the Jamz School Dance National Championship on Friday, February 17 at the Orleans Arena.
 
First year Dance Advisor Reynaldo Acacio has taken a program that has struggled for years to just get an advisor to winning regionals and competing for a national title.

Mount Miguel Wrestling Wins First League Title in 54 Years!
The Mount Miguel Matadors can finally call themselves League Champions for the first time since 1963. 
 
The young Matadors crowned themselves league champs on senior night in dominant fashion as they defeated the Santana Sultans 60-18.
 
Head Coach Victor Richmond, who took over the program in 2010, had close calls over the years but his teams would always come up just short.

Matadors Have Strong Showing in Final Tournament Before Postseason
 
The Mount Miguel Matadors hosted the Robert Jenkins Memorial Tournament this past Saturday, finishing third as a team including two champions.
 
Sophomore Raul Garcia, 109 pounds, and senior Juan Ruiz, 155 pounds, dominated their respective weight classes to earn Most Outstanding Lightweight and Most Outstanding Heavyweight in the 18-team tournament.
 
It was a total team effort for the Matadors who were missing four weight classes....
